My Genius Curl Spray
What are the best products for curly hair? This is a loaded question, of course. Multiple factors influence the health and appearance of each individual’s hair. However, after a long-anticipated curl journey, I have discovered this genius curl spray that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg; and it works.
I will admit I have purchased an embarrassing number of curly hair products over this past year. Initially, curl cream was my product of choice. Creams provided moisture and soft beautiful curls. Unfortunately, the creams were not enough. My hair looked okay, not great. Of course, I wanted great hair, who doesn’t?
After reading multiple posts and articles, I purchased a bottle of gel. Soon enough I discovered what a difference a gel could make. It created a hard-outer cast that fought frizz. The gel provided plenty of hold for those extra humid Arkansas days. Summer here is brutal, so gel was my new BFF.
Additionally, there are hundreds of sprays, oils, and conditioning masks that benefit the health and appearance of your curls. Choosing between products can be quite overwhelming. Curly hair has never been so trendy. If only these options were available when I was a teenager.
Throughout my experimental phase, I began obsessively shopping at Sally’s Beauty Supply. It seemed I was running in the store every week for new purchases or exchanges.
Several months later during another walkthrough in Sally’s, a woman working there approached me. She asked if I needed any help. Next, I recall her saying, “Your hair is very curly, but I have to tell you about one product another customer is using.” The woman then mentioned that this customer had the most beautiful curls she had ever seen.
The worker then picked up a bottle of curl spray. The name was “Beyond The Zone Noodle Head.” It was a curl boosting spray. The woman said it worked like magic. She said her other customer obsessively used this product. Of course, I was intrigued and wanted to give it a try. The bottle was cute and the spray was inexpensive; this was a win for me.

BTZ Noodle Head Spray
The following day I decided to finally see what all the fuss was about. I wasn’t sure how to use it, or where to fit the product in my routine. After some thought, it felt safe to use it as my last step.
Without hesitation, I sprayed several pumps and scrunched it in. The spray left my hair feeling slightly damp, so I reached for my diffuser. In a matter of three or four minutes, my curls were dry. Then, I took a glance in the bathroom mirror. I was shocked by the results. My hair was extremely curly! This stuff was magic!
My teenage daughter began using it as well. Her hair is more wavy than curly. However, this spray transformed her waves into beautiful curls. It was apparent her results were equally impressive. She began receiving tons of compliments from friends at school and even her teachers.
Above all, I highly recommend experimenting with only one new product at a time. You will save yourself tons of guesswork when determining which product worked best.
Curl Spray Tips:
Creams and Gels first.
This is my preferred method. Of course, the spray can be used in multiple ways. I found it worked best for my hair when sprayed over the top of the creams and gels. On days when I’m feeling lazy, I just use the BTZ spray alone. It gives me a beachy-curl feel. Either way, with this genius formula you will be impressed with your results.
Spray the activator into your hands and scrunch.
As well as spraying directly onto my hair, I spray a little activator on my hands too. This helps distribute the product and will coat additional strands of hair. Don’t forget to scrunch your curls after spraying. It makes all the difference.
Diffuse your hair.
This is my favorite tip! The heat will seal your products in and set your curl. It’s always amazing what a little diffusing can do. I know it can be time- consuming, but so worth the extra few minutes of your day. If you haven’t tried diffusing, I highly recommend starting.
Refreshing second day hair.
If you need a curl boost, this is your product. Occasionally second day hair tends to act naughty. The BTZ spray will wake those curls up. Just spray and scrunch in!
My final thoughts:
With thousands of curly products on the market, it is quite the guessing game. However, this spray is the best I have ever tried. My goal is to spread the love and recommend amazing products with you all. If you have used the Noodle Head spray and love it, please share your routine with me below!

I’ve been looking for something natural curls, not the crunchy look.

Let me know what you think if you try it! I absolutely love this spray!
Laura
May I ask what creams or gels you use before the final spray? Thanks!
admin
Hey! That’s a great question! I use a drop of the Kinky-Curly Curling Custard Gel and finish off with the Dippity-Do Girls with Curls Gelee. They seem to pair up very nicely together and I believe they are both curly girl approved as well.
If you have any more questions let me know!

Just wanted to say “Hi!” I’m a fellow Arkansan, so I’m always looking for tips from locals that understand the humidity here. Needless to say I’ll be trying BTZ as soon as possible😉. Thanks for sharing!!!

I hope you love it as much as I do! One thing I will recommend with the BTZ spray is to limit using other products that contain glycerin, this should help with frizz. Thanks so much for your feedback and good luck!!
Jennifer
You mention using an activator, what is that and what kind?

Hey Jennifer! So sorry for the confusion! The part where I mentioned “Activator,” I was referring to the Curl Spray. Hopefully that helps!
Kayleigh
Hey! Just curious, do you put your creams and gels and the spray in your hair right after washing (while still wet) or do you let your hair dry and then put everything in? I feel like I need to try this spray but I want to make sure I’m doing it right!
admin
Hi Kayleigh. I always apply the products after washing my hair. This method seems to help lock everything in and decreases frizz. Thank you for the question!

I ordered this the minute I was done reading. I’m a month in to embracing my natural hair and the struggle is REAL! I have high hopes this will be my IT product bc my hair looks so similar to your before picture. One question, when you say put on after creams and gels do you mean when it’s still wet? Or after it’s dry and you’ve scrunched out the crunch?

Hi Samantha! I spray on after my cream and gels have mostly dried. You may want to experiment, one day spray on wet curls and the next time spray on damp/dry curls. I prefer using the diffuser to seal in my product. Thanks for your question!!
