A Little Story

Last summer I became obsessed about curl creams. I can’t tell you how many bottles of different crap I bought and then later returned. It got ridiculous!

It seemed the majority of creams left my hair with zero hold. Nothing impressed me. I also had way too much frizz!

One day while scrolling through Facebook I noticed a girl talking about a new curl cream she was using. The name was, Oligo Professional Calura Curl Balm Baume – 8.5oz (250ml).

The girl’s hair was gorgeous and her curls were very defined. I thought to myself, I have got to try that cream!

Well, of course, I jumped on Amazon and ordered a bottle!

Here’s How it Went.

I washed my hair and then applied the Oligo Curl Balm to my very wet hair.

Next, I slathered a few dollops of gel on top and waited for the magic to happen.

Finally, I grabbed my diffuser and began drying my curls. (Always start with the roots first!)

My Results

Oligo Curl Cream For Fine Curly Hair

Oh yeah! I immediately started thanking the curly gods! My hair appeared extremely shiny and I noticed a major change in my curl definition. (I have to mention the curl cream has a pleasant scent that will keep your hair smelling fresh all day long.)

What’s in this cream? It must be magic fairy Dust!

Oligo Curl Balm Ingredients!

If you are familiar with the curly girl method, I’m sure you know how concerned we are about ingredients. Products containing harsh sulfates, silicones or alcohols are not recommended.

With that said, I had to see what this cream was made of. For some reason, I couldn’t locate the Oligo Curl Balm ingredient list online. At that point, I decided to manually enter the ingredients from my bottle onto Curlsbot, (a handy ingredient analyzer.)

The results surprised me! It was Curly Girl approved! Honestly, I loved it so much I was going to keep using it regardless of what the Curlsbot analyzer told me.

Fast Forward 4 months later

Summer disappeared and unfortunately so did my bouncy curls.

Undoubtedly, it was the dry cold air messing up all my hard work. I was so frustrated! Obviously, I have no control over the weather, but I knew I had to change something in my curly hair routine.

Tips for Winter Hair

More Cream! Thankfully, this small increase in the product made a significant difference. It seemed like my hair needed more of the Oligo cream. Rather than using one or two pumps, I used at least 2-3 pumps each time. Simple strategy, right?

Comb or Brush Conditioner Through Wet Hair: This is a game-changer! I don’t know why I waited so long to start doing this. Combing conditioner through eliminates all of the guesswork and leaves your hair super soft. Don’t be shy with the conditioner, you may need more than usual during the winter months.

A little tip: Let the conditioner soak in for a few minutes while you shave your legs and wash your body.

Scrunch the Conditioner: Along with brushing my conditioner through, I also scrunch it in (it only takes a few extra seconds to do in the shower.) This helps my dry ends absorb more of the conditioner.

Deep Condition: Yikes! I did not realize how thirsty my curl’s had become. It should have been obvious to me what was going on. If my hands are dry and need a crap ton of lotion, my hair is probably just as dry. (Winter is not my favorite season.)

Here’s the thing, we have to keep our curls hydrated, especially during the winter! Sometimes regular conditioner isn’t enough to do the trick.

There are tons of hair masks and treatments that will hydrate and replenish your parched curls. In a matter of 15 minutes, you will be on your way to healthier hair!

Deep Conditioning Hair Mask: This is an affordable and super easy mask to soften those crunchy curls!

My Final Thoughts

Fine curly hair requires a little extra push to pop those curls into shape. It takes work to find good products.

Hopefully, you will love the Oligo Curl Balm. I am going to keep drenching my curls in this product until I stumble upon another life-changing curl cream for my fine hair.

Let me know if you have tried this cream! I love to experiment with new curly hair products, so if there is one out there that you can’t live without, share it with me!
